New Song: Alicia Keys- ‘Type Writer’

Alicia Keys has generated more excitement for the re-release of debut album ‘Songs In A Minor‘ with the surfacing of the song ‘Type Writer’.

Recorded long before she was harmonizing with female convicts in ‘Fallin’ and declaring her power in ‘A Woman’s Worth‘, ‘Type Writer’ was written back in 1997 in the humility of her Harlem apartment.

This one, called ‘Shut Up’ once again displays the sublime nature of her Soul drenched voice. I’d be a massive liar if I said I was a huge fan of Ledisi’s music, because I’m not but I’ve seen her live and admire her voice hugely. Not sure of many others who can, vocally, compete with this lady – even when she’s not indulgently singing.

A new Chris Brown cut in the form of ‘Between The Lines’ surfaced today. Said to be featured on his forthcoming mixtape (which precedes his new studio album, ‘F.A.M.E’), Brown re-teams with ‘Deuces’ collaborator Kevin McCall on the cut.

New Video: Fantasia – ‘I’m Doin Me’

Fantasia keeps the ball rolling with the video new single ‘I’m Doin Me’ – which premièred minutes ago on VEVO. The release is the latest to be lifted from the American Idol star’s 3rd studio album ‘Back to Me’ - which debuted at #2 Billboard 200 back in August.





It’s pretty much a given that Fantasia is ranked rather high here at That Grape Juice, yet it’s important to keep it real. That was a recession-special. No if’s, but’s, or maybe’s.

The worse part of the whole shabang is that the problem lay not with the video set nor the storyline. Instead it was the post-production. Something about the editing, lighting, and whatnot, came across distinctly cheap. Put simply, the video lacked the all-important gloss which, otherwise, would have made it that much better.

Still, the clip is cute. But is ‘cute’ enough when as of last week ‘Back to Me’ had sold just 283,000 copies? Unfortunate given how amazingly solid it is. Here’s hoping this release, along with her forthcoming tour, and VH1 reality show promo, help push the album to at least Gold status.

Here is a new song from Ne-Yo. ‘Know Your Name’ is reportedly from his ‘Libra Scale’ recording sessions. Give it a listen below:



This track is a definite winner. The simple finger-snapping production is a laced with the drifting melodies, creating a song that would work well as an standout album cut. However, I don’t see this having any major single appeal.

New Song: Monica & Trey Songz – ‘Here I Am (Remix)’

R&B force Monica has teamed up with crooner Trey Songz for ‘Here I Am’ – the third single to be lifted from her Gold selling LP ‘Still Standing’.



Having long been in a love-affair with the original, I was somewhat predisposed to giving a thumbs up to the remix. However, this stunning version deserves kudos in its own right. Despite not featuring new vocals from Monica, the addition of Songz surprisingly breathed new life into the song, with their respective vocals meshing exceptionally well. What’s more, Songz’s powerful runs sees this serve as one of his best vocal out yet. R&B at its best.

New Video: Karina - My First Love

Some more material from Miss Karina Pasian has surfaced. "My First Time" was produced by Brian Michael Cox and it's a real nice R&B ballad. Vocals are up to par on this, even though the track sounds like it hasn't been mastered.

The track is being dubbed as an unreleased record that was recorded for her debut album. Karina has been working on her sophomore album, which is expected to drop next year.
