A Poem To Nicki Minaj: Represent Female MC's Right

So While I Was On My Late Night Facebook Wonders I Dear Friend Of Mine Post a Video On Her Wall. The Video Was Of A Freshmen In College By The Name Of Jasmine Mans Reciting A Poem. "I'm Just Gone Call It "Barbie" In The Poem She Is Speaking To And About Ms.Young Money Also Known As Nicki Minaj. The Poem It Talking About Nicki Minaj, And how She Is Try To Represent Females In The Rap Game But Also Selling Herself Out. Some People Might Say That Jasmine Is Trowing Shade Because She Uses Nicki's Antics As Well As Line From Her Raps Like "Itty Bitty Piggy" And "5 Star Chick" One Of The Video Viewers On Youtube Stated
" she was mostly tellin Nicki to stand up for women cause there arent many in the game... if u gonna represent us do it right and Jasmine just did it right.... she was also sayin that Nicki can do better and u dont have to sale yourself to make it... i like some of Nicki's music but Jasmine is right"

How I Personally Feel About The Poem? I Feel That She Is Speaking From The Heart. There Is A Part In Her Poem That Says "Barbie Your Miseducated On the Game And I'm not Talking About No Lauyrn Hill" (Don't Quote Me) That Part Had Me Flipping Out. Check It Out Below.

NEW Track: Keri Hilson – ‘Breaking Point’ (Prod By Timbaland)

Back to the ‘point’ – ‘Breaking Point’ is the first single off Keri Hilson’s forthcoming album No Boys Allowed (which I’m pretty sure is a very risky album title) which is schedule for a late 2010 release. The song was written by Hilson and produced by Timbaland

REMIX: Janelle Monae – ‘Faster’ x ‘Dance or Die’ (Nirobi Re Edit)

Just spotted these over at SoulBouce and liked what I heard, so thought I’d share em’ with you good folks. Robert Luis, co-owner & founder of the Tru Thoughts label has re-edited two of the best tracks on Monae’s debut album The Archandroid by not only separating them (the two blend into each other on the LP) but also by adding some new drums to em’ – to “make them more DJ friendly”. I like what he’s done to both the tracks, the difference from the originals is noticable but not so that it ruins their greatness.

Gilles Peterson liked them too – never a bad look. Listen and download both remixes below.

VIDEO: Janelle Monae – ‘Cold War’

So Yeah I Have A Blank Face After Watching This Video!

In what can only be described as brave and beautiful, this video is nothing short of brilliant. Brutal, emotional, naked – it gives you everything. It’s completely memorising. Not only that, but it reiterates the message put forward by so many (most recently Erykah Badu’s ‘Window Seat’ video) that a massive budget, c0mplex story line and insane costumes do not make a video. Innovation, spirit and energy does.

Not to mention the focus on the lyrics of this song, which are so important, is critical the understanding the nature of Janelle Monae’s music. Take away the big instrumentation, the electric moves and you find yourself left with heart felt words with meaning, motive and true heart.

MUSIC VIDEO: THE ROOTS - “THE FIRE” FT. JOHN LEGEND

Here’s the Rik Codero-directed video for “The Fire” from The Roots featuring John Legend, off their latest album How I Got Over, in stores now.

None of them appear in the video, and Codero explained:

“The Fire” is one of my favorite tracks off How I Got Over and really feels like something you’d hear in the theater. The line ‘you don’t say good luck, you say don’t give up’ inspired me to create a period piece narrative that stays true to the lyrics while adding another layer to the interpretation.

UGLY...by Darryl Terrell

Can someone please tell me who this guy is?..
I'm mean everyone speaks about how beauty is his eye
Well I got a bone to pick with his shallow ass
Because if I'm UGLY then I guess he don't know what the fuck he talking about.
I mean UGLY is considered Beautiful to me
But to him it's not.
So my question!
What the fuck do he look like?
Quite frankly i think he UGLY for what he think Beauty is
To him Beauty is only how you look and not how you act
So that mean gone ahead fuck about ten people in the next 24 hours
Break a few hearts
Kill a baby and then slap your momma
And then start some Facebook drama...
Now lets be real that UGLY as hell
But you can still just about do It and when you wake up in the morning the only thing you will have to fall Back on is your looks but baby looks only last a little while.

BUT I'M UGLY!!!

You know what fuck this beholder guy
Because I know damn well I'm Beautiful
So what i wear glasses and i snort when i laugh
so what i'm i gut and a big ass but
i'm still beautiful
But guess what today I donated my time to help someone
I kissed A baby gave my momma a hug and told someone to keep there head up

But I'm UGLY?

Somebody need to talk to this beholder guy fire his ass or something
Because he don't know don't know the real meaning of beauty.

You know what I'm glad to be UGLY to him.

KiD CuDi & Kanye West - Erase This [CDQ]

Here goes the CD Quality version of KiD CuDi & Kanye West's collaboration entitled "Erase This." Set to be on KiD's upcoming album, "Man On The Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager," the track is his most rock sounding song to date. Both CuDi and Kanye sound right at home on the record though, which was produced by the talented Jim Jonsin. KiD CuDi's single, "REVOFEV," is currently on repeat. Hopefully people catch on to that song because it's such a great record.

VIDEO: Erykah Badu Performs ‘20 Feet Tall’ (Live In L.A)

Queen Badu performs New Amerykah, Part 2: Return of the Ankh’s opening track ‘20 Feet Tall’ live at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. It’s a short, but well put together piece and it deserves a post simply because it’s Erykah Badu. Cannot wait for my annual pilgrimage to see this lady live in London this summer. ‘20 Feet Tall’ has grown to be one of my favourite songs on the album – the words are so captivating.

NEWS: Lauryn Hill’s Candid Interview w/ NPR

Lauryn HIll recently sat down with NPR for a rare and impromptu interview where the singer opened up on things that we, her fans, have been wondering for the past 10 years: why wasn’t there another album, when is she releasing new music, where is she mentally. You can read the full interview here, but check the best bits below…

On why she stopped putting out music: “There were a number of different reasons. But partly, the support system that I needed was not necessarily in place. There were things about myself, personal-growth things, that I had to go through in order to feel like it was worth it. In fact, as musicians and artists, it’s important we have an environment—and I guess when I say environment, I really mean the [music] industry, that really nurtures these gifts. Oftentimes, the machine can overlook the need to take care of the people who produce the sounds that have a lot to do with the health and well-being of society, or at least some aspect of society. And it’s important that people be given the time that they need to go through, to grow, so that the consciousness level of the general public is properly affected. Oftentimes, I think people are forced to make decisions prematurely. And then that sound radiates.”

On wanting to sing more: “I’m trying to open up my range and really sing more. With The Fugees initially, and even with Miseducation, it was very hip-hop—always a singing over beats. I don’t think people have really heard me sing out. So if I do record again, perhaps it will have an expanded context. Where people can hear a bit more.”

On why she started to perform again: “I don’t know if you know this, but I have five children. The youngest is 2 now, so she’s old enough that I can leave her for a period of time and know she’s going to be okay. That’s one reason. And I think it’s just time. I’m starting to get excited again. Believe it or not, I think what people are attracted to about me, if anything, is my passion. People got exposed to my passion through music and song first. I think people might realize, you know, ‘We love the way she sounds, we love the music, but I think we just love how fearless she is. How boundless she is, when it comes to what she wants to do.’ And I think that can be infectious.”

On staying healthy: “I think if I was created with such power or an ability, then what’s also been put in me is the blueprint for the responsibility part, as well. I have to take care of myself in order to take care of this gift, which has affected so many. I don’t treat it lightly. It’s important to me to be healthy and to be whole.”

Corinne Bailey Rae Comes 'Closer'

I love this song. In fact, the more I hear Corinne Bailey Rae's "Closer" the more I want to tell a particular someone just how bad I've been so they can tell me to come "closer" to get me right. Perhaps that was too much to divulge. I'm sure for some of you, Corinne can't divulge enough. Unluckily for you, she keeps things classy, cute and always sexily subdued in this clip. Try to imagine an even more coy disco-era Donna Summer with the body and voice of a lithe nymph. That comes "close" to what this video is like but you'll have to judge for yourself after you press play.

KiD CuDi – A Converse Short Film (Video)

I’m not a fan of Chuck Taylors, mainly because I walk heavy and those shits are nothing more than socks with rubber soles and shoelaces, but I’d slap someone’s moms if it meant I could score a pair of Converse (PRODUCT) RED Leather Jacket Chuck Taylors. Anyways, here’s some cut-and-paste dialogue I knows youse all will love…

Converse follows him to Cleveland to capture the journey that inevitably turned Scott Mescudi into KiD CuDi, in one of three short films leading up to the release of a song featuring Bethany Cosentino (Best Coast,) Rostam Batmanglij (Vampire Weekend) and KiD CuDi in July.

I think I'm just about over being your girlfriend, I'm leaving, I'm leaving.....

So Yeah After A Long Day Of Working A Dear Friend Of Mine Named Victoria Tagged Me In A Note That She Posted On Face Book And When I Read It I Was Like Yessssssss!!!!!! So There People That Go Through The Same Thing...... Here Is Her poem Titled Listen to your Epiphany

You're in a relationship that makes you happy and full of joy... You feel free to be who ever you choose to be because you have a woman who loves you more than you know, or at least thats what she says... You text her reminding her that you love her and saying little shit to put that smile on her face while you're not with her. Life is good, life is great. You have absolutely NO COMPLAINTS about her, you, and ya'll together. You're quick to say, "Yea.. that's my baby" and every time you hear her name you smile... But it wouldn't last forever would it?

Months pass and this feeling of happiness begins to fade... She's complaining about little things you do, as if you haven't always done them. She's finding stupid petty reasons to call you back, take a rain check or even your favorite "imma hafta ttyl" through a text. Your trust begins to fail as you find shit takes makes you wonder what the hell. You look inside yourself and take the blame, saying it's my fault I can't keep our relationship the same. You bust your ass and try to smile, pretending you don't know what you've known for a while. Because through it all, love prevails... right?

She kisses you sweetly, holds you tight, kisses ur neck and tells you goodnight but all you can think about is... What am I not doing right? You ask yourself over and over again, write it down, make a plan, just to keep her love in your grasp. She's fading away, she's leaving fast, you just don't know how to make it last and when you ask... She blows you off, saying thats ur own internal fault. So you cry, you mourn while she's away, wondering what shit you'll find today. You've become addicted to searching through her things, her email, her messengers, every screen name. You want to stop but you just can't, because you have to know if you still have a chance. Every day brings something new, a DL page... wow who knew. Responding to singles ads, calling ppl baby and commenting on a picture of a bitches ass...

Your eyes swell with tears, how could you be so blind... The signals were there the entire time. The blow horn was blowing and sirens were loud, but you didn't hear them... you just don't know how... but even now... Love prevails, right? She comes home late, doesn't want to talk, she kisses your cheek and says she's going for a walk... You hurt, it burns and every thing in you wants to scream, but you can't be that weak... You can beat this thing. She still comes home! It's all okay! It doesn't matter what she does during the day, you love her!

One day she comes home and you can tell, somethings not right. What the fuck is that smell? Cheap perfume and "Baby, I'm tired as hell." You think, yea I'm sure, me too... inside wishing you had never fell for her smile, her touch, her kiss and there's still so much... She tries to hold you, you scoot away, not sure where her hands have been today. It hurts, it's bad. You cry and she says, "Shut that shit up, I'm tryin to sleep." You laugh because you've hit the edge of sanity.

In the morning she leaves and you stick around just trying to breathe in contaminated air, sleeping in a bed of nails that used to be soft as rose petals... You get up to do your daily things, turn on the radio and for you she sings, "I think I'm just about over being your girlfriend, I'm leaving, I'm leaving. No more wonderin what you been doin, where you been sleepin. I'm leaving, I'm leaving." The tears fill your eyes because this song is going to be your demise but by the time it's over you've pulled out your duffel, a few bags your purse. You plan to be out by the time she gets back from "work". You pack all day grabbing all your shit, singing the song in your head is motivating you not to quit.

You're all packed up, you leave a note, "I'm gone for good, I should have known." On top you leave the key you'll never need. She pulls in while you're grabbing your things. She's asking you, "WHY!?", you're pulling away, thinking of all the times you'd stay, broken and torn, unappreciated and worn. Nothing makes sense except you closing that door and driving far, far away. She keeps screaming, "WHY!?" Almost like she's going to cry, but you know better, she has no feelings. She's turned her back and left you to cry in a corner, fall to your knees, you've watched yourself beg and plead for someone who you didn't ever need. You look at her and the tears begin to fall, she used to be your everything, your love, your all. You tell her softly, as sweet as can be... "I should have listened to my first epiphany"

The Industry Remembers The King

One year ago, the music industry’s greatest entertainer, Michael Jackson, passed away. However, the tremendous legacy of the King of Pop has not been forgotten. Billboard.com compiled a collection of clips in which some of brightest young stars in the game today, including Christina Aguilera, Jason Derulo, Lil Jon, Nelly and others, shared their memories of the icon and inspirational stories about his influence on their careers. Peep the clip below:

There is no doubt that Jackson was the greatest force to emerge from the music world in the last 50 years. His influence on the game is unmatched and the glory of his artistry is within the league of Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder; a class above all others. Simply put, Michael Jackson is better than your favourite artist. Long live the King.
